The confused grain orientation of this maple burl bowl, single shadow of a bark inclusion, and buffed to glass film of the waterlox finish make for an exceptional ready to use bowl. Pictures don't do this piece justice.
This bowl is finished with foodsafe waterlox finish and buffed to a glass shine.
This piece was turned once, meaning that it was made while the wood was still wet and then allowed to dry. While it dries it organically warps leaving a completely unique piece. Maple doesn’t warp drastically when drying so the warping in this piece is subtle.
The timber for this piece came down for home construction outside of Monroe, Washington and was reclaimed from the would be firewood pile.
